Three Paintings by Julie Opperman

I am drawn to bold colors, patterns, and designs. My inspiration comes from many sources, from textiles to wallpaper to forms found in nature, as well as shapes and patterns found in architecture and tile-work. Recently, I have been making spiral paintings. By overlapping several spirals, I create moiré patterns, as waves of color collide. The optical effects create movement on the canvas, and play tricks on your eyes.
